What Is a Professional Album?
Perhaps it is easier to describe what a professional album is not. It is not an inexpensive 3 ring 100 page magnetic book, a postbound scrapbook, or a simple 3 ½ x 5 or 4 x 6 pocket style camera store album. At the low end of professional albums, some photographers offer postbound and pin hinge (piano hinge page assembly) binding styles where the pages themselves make up the spine of the album. Generally these binders come with taped edges and some type of acetate covered pages which cause glare and photo discoloration depending on the type of acetate.
A top quality professional album accepts prints of all sizes 10x10 to 4x5 mounted into matted pages that are bound like a book, or skillfully laid out in a digital flush mount album without the need to turn the album sideways.
Traditional Style - Leather Library Bound Albums
